I Rock Day

New Venue, new bands, new scene….lotta crazy shit happened before I ROCK 19.
Farhad Wadia wanted to stick to the old venue and our democratic govt decided otherwise….lotta hue and cry from the rock junta in mumbai….petitions signed…
Nice to see the support he has….and he deserves it for carrying this event on his shoulders fr the last 19 years now.

I got to the new venue and was thoroughly disappointed with the sound off stage.
Yeah Rangbhavan was a dream….but time to wake up now.The competition started out with Tripwire doing a cover dominated set, blink 182 and greenday being the crowd favourites….but they were a band that's always managed to make me smile. Their vocalist, like I mentioned in an article before has a lotta patience and tolerance. But its not the sweetest thing to start of at I rock cos the junta thinks its cool to walk in late and the gates open pretty late too.Next up were headrush. I felt they were the most decent band of the day. Sonu on bass has pushed this band a notch up since he came on when ameya left the scene. Bhushan happens to be one of my fave vocalists so ill leave it there b4 ppl start calling me biased.
A grunge dominated set with STP and pearl jam standing out.Myndsnare came on and one of the reasons I headed for the gig was to catch yasmin…on stage of course. Their music aint never been my kind….it scares me but the crowd was havin a ball….moshing their spines out.Split came on next and did what they do best….audioslave, creed, godsmack…with names like vishwesh and gary in their lineup I think these guys have potential to break any competition they attempt…..but sumthin just doesn't seem to click for them lately.Demonstealer then took centerstage as DR started the warnings for the end of the world….yeah its not my kinda music and I understand its that way for 90 % of the ppl who were there…..but when someone goes onstage to play, they expect a little more respect than what the fukkd up mumbai crowd gives them…to top it all off theres a jam correspondent who comes up with a brilliant idea and asks some gujju aunties in the crowd how they felt bout DR….Last up….Chaos Theory….they were my fave for the night…wanted to jump into the pits but I was too damn drunk to move by then…absolute chaos from start to end….their Ocs 'psychedelic dreams' and 'anti-judo 540' were a treat to the musically starved OC hunters around….and for cover fanatics they dished out 'I will be heard' - hatebreed , 'sway' - coalchamber & 'crystal lake'- poison the well…..the highlight - vaas' outfit.Zero came on as the headlining act for the night and as usual were very tight. Zubin (ex Indus creed) joined them on keys as did farhad wadia for guest vocals. They played some new Ocs and covers…..apart from the 'mustang sally' with farhad which was absolute fun….All in all….not the greatest I rock I've seen…..partly cos the original lineup included 'them clones' and 'medicis'…..and pentagram to headline….that wud have definitely made it one of the best ever…so I had my expectations all shattered even b4 I headed there….Hey did I forget to mention myndsnare won????
