Campus Rock Idol Review: Pune

Campus Rock Idol Review: the day lot of eager local rockers were awaiting for, with the sudden decline in the shows in the city, CRI was a savior. Pyramid Lawns, all notched up for a headband-day, was the venue. The preliminary elimination round scheduled in the morning half, kicked off around 10.30ish. Various genre based 11 bands fought for a two slot final competitions with bands from the western zone. SOS, Brute Force, Legacy, Nemesis, Black Hole Theory, Khadki Junction Blues, to name a few, faced each other for the evening finals. Unbound, Angel-dust and Wicked saints were among the local bands who did not participate. Legacy was the band to watch out for. The kind of energy and talent they spurred on to the crowd, was honestly phenomenal. Hrushi, the bassist of legacy totally ripped it of. KJB were stand-outs as their music got the funks of the crowd on their feet. Results were quite frankly different from what the crowd expected, Nemesis first, Brute force second, and Black Hole Theory in the third slot. Nemesis, with their new vocalist where a bit scratchy and Black hole theory were incomplete without their guitarist Prithviraj. Legacy deserved a slot without any doubts. It left a lot of people seething. Brute Force was a new find with some good guitaring and heavy drumming.

Evening looked good when the crowd really grew exponentially. Six bands were to compete, two from Bombay( Medussa and ), two from Ahmedabad (Devoid and Nefelhime) and two from Pune(Brute Force and Nemesis). Day light faded away to give a rocking evening… Medusa from Bombay played Testify with some really bad vocals. Nemesis had a good run as they played Highway to Hell, which raised the hands in the air… Nemesis won the first place. Medusa won the second place. But the show masters and the headlining act, Zero, totally had a kick ass show. They played their originals mostly and remake track of Harry Bella Fonte’s. Zero was undoubtedly the freaking pinnacle of the evening.
